What is Diabetes?

First of all, girls, we must define what diabetes is, this disease occurs when we have extremely high sugar levels in our blood. We girls know that glucose is what gives us energy and that we get it from every food we eat.

Now insulin is produced in our pancreas, this is a very necessary hormone in our body because girls that glucose that we get from food through insulin will help us to get glucose into our cells and that is what gives us energy.

But girls, it should be noted that insulin is not produced in the bodies of people with diabetes, or in some things it does, but the body does not use it as it should and that affects us because of the same cycle that I told you before is not produced and we do not produce lots of energy and we feel tired.

Girls, There are several types of diabetes girls like type 1, type 2, mutations, and gestational diabetes.

Diabetes in pregnant women!

Now, girls, let's talk about gestational diabetes, this type of diabetes will appear for the first time in pregnancy, of course, girls, we have never suffered from diabetes.

This type of diabetes usually affects one or all of the mother's pregnant women and disappears when they give birth, but this is usually something rare to see. But this type we can begin to suffer from the 4th month of pregnancy.

As a result, doctors routinely do medical check-ups between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy to rule out the disease. But girls, it should be clarified that, if we have offspring with this disease from the moment we find out that we are going to be mothers, our doctor will carry out check-ups every month to control us.

Girls often eat healthily and exercise according to what our doctor tells us, we can regulate gestational diabetes, but in certain cases, the mother will have to use insulin.

O'Sullivan's Test and the Blood Glucose Curve!

What is it?

Both O'Sullivan and the blood glucose curve are tests that are done to see if we have diabetes. Doctors do it to girls between week 24 and 28 of pregnancy and as I told you before, girls do it every month when there are offspring or some other factor.

Like being overweight, age, and sugar in the urine that comes out in routine exams.

How do these small tests work, first you must arrive at the laboratory with 8 or 10 hours of fasting and after this, they will give you 50 grams of sugar mixed with water and you must drink everything and then we will wait an hour.

After waiting that hour, the doctor will take a blood sample to re-measure our glucose level after having taken this amount of sugar and wait one hour.

Important fact girls, you must drink all this liquid without vomiting because otherwise you must wait for time and after this, they will draw your blood again and after this, they will make you drink the 50 g of sugar dissolved in water again and the process will be repeated.

So, girls, the test should indicate less than 140 mg/dl, if we exceed or equal it is very likely that it is gestational diabetes, but what they will do is send medication and make an appointment in a week.

After this week we are going to do the test again and if we exceed 200 mg/dl we will already know that we have gestational diabetes.

Gestational diabetes problems!

Cesarean section

Girls we know that there are two ways to give birth: natural childbirth and cesarean section, in this case, we will talk about cesarean section. Cesarean section is performed when the mother cannot give birth naturally because a cut is made in the lower part of the stomach without hurting the baby.

When a mommy has gestational diabetes and it is not controlled, there is a good chance that her baby will be born by cessation, since doing it by natural delivery will not be able to keep glucose levels stable.

So girls, for the greater safety of both, a cesarean section is performed, so that mommy does not suffer and something greater does not happen and so that the baby is born well. Because let's remember girls that there is hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.

Preeclampsia

Well, girls, this is easy terms is having high blood pressure and this added to gestational diabetes is a big problem, and that is why the doctors will be very close to mommy.

Because high blood pressure and high seasonal diabetes will generate complications for mommy and baby, such as early labor or in worst cases seizures, strokes, or what is diabetic coma, this while mommy gives birth.

In general, girls, women with diabetes have high blood pressure, so they should take care of themselves more than moms who do not have it.

Advice

Girls, these are some tips:

Eat healthily, we girls can do this with the help of a nutritionist, because eating healthy does not mean that we stop eating only that we learn to eat.

Exercising, girls to control diabetes is good to exercise because it makes the sugar levels in order, we can do about 30 minutes of exercise every day, we can walk, do exercises in the pool or something more advanced yoga. But girls this with the consent of our doctor

Carry out controls with the glucometer, because pregnancy will affect our hormones and the body because it must change due to pregnancy, so of course, the sugar levels will change and that is how you will control it.

Do not stop using insulin, of course, if you need it and the doctor sends it to you because we know mommy that it is for the good of our son

And finally, girls, put ourselves in control and perform routine exams between weeks 6 and 12, and after we give birth, perform routine exams every 6 months, to keep our little ones and ourselves well.

Conclusion

Well, girls in conclusion gestational diabetes are somewhat delicate, but with exercise, good nutrition, and adequate medical control we will have a beautiful pregnancy.

Many times girls this type of diabetes appears in pregnancy and after delivery disappears this will happen in 1 out of every 1000 women, when this does not happen, which is usually what happens, it will be classified as diabetes 2 and you will keep a check, but if you follow it you will be fine.

It is important for girls that the mothers who suffered from gestational diabetes continue with their exercise routine and good nutrition to prevent, and also have routine exams every 6 months or every year.
